Virginia ‘Ginny’ B. Vermeys Sido

BATTLE CREEK - Virginia “Ginny” Beth Sido, 74, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at home in Glen Carbon, Illinois. A private service will be held for the family at a future date.

Ginny was born on March 14, 1950, to Edward Vermeys and Marianne (Petit) Vermeys in Battle Creek. She was the ninth child of fifteen children. She had nine sisters and five brothers.  

She married Thomas Sido on June 24, 1972, in Ankeny, Iowa, and was married for 52 years. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Edward and wife Stephanie of Springfield, Virginia; Aaron of Glen Carbon, Illinois; Craig and wife Cari of Madison County, Illinois, and grandsons Andrew, Preston and Patrick; siblings Donald (Catherine) Vermeys of Milford, Iowa; Carole (Clifford) Wascher of Kimberling City, Missouri; Eleanor Sanders of Bondurant, Iowa; Patricia (Leroy) Bathke of Dixon, Nebraska; Randall (Diane) Vermeys of Battle Creek; Doris (Ronald) Madetzke of Battle Creek, Iowa; Delores (Charles) Pierce of Battle Creek; Laurence Vermeys of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; Glenda (Chuck) Jonas of Wahoo, Nebraska; Susan (Patrick) Zeroth of Colo, Iowa; Lynne (Neil) Bjorholm of Battle Creek, and many many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Vivian Kemker and two brothers, Fred Vermeys and Richard Vermeys.  

Ginny loved her grandsons, building dollhouses, miniatures, taking pictures of birds, her dogs Barney, Charlie and Freddy and her Dr. Pepper.
